Bring water and milk to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in the steel cut oats and salt. Reduce to a low simmer.

Cook for 25-30 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until the oats are tender and the porridge is thick and creamy. Stir in cinnamon.

Tip: Steel cut oats take longer than rolled oats but have a much better texture. For quicker mornings, soak them overnight and they'll cook in 10 minutes.
