Combine all marinade ingredients (grated pear, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, pepper) in a bowl. Add the sliced beef and onion, toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight).

Tip: The pear is a natural meat tenderizer. If you can't find Asian pear, use half a grated apple.

Heat a large skillet or grill pan over high heat until smoking. Add oil.

Cook the beef in batches (don't crowd the pan) for 2-3 minutes per side until caramelized and slightly charred. Remove to a plate.

In the same pan, quickly saute the green onions for 30 seconds. Add back the beef and toss together.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately over steamed rice.
