Preheat oven to 350F. Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until fragrant. Arrange in the crust.
Tip: Toasting the pecans first gives the whole pie a deeper, nuttier flavor and prevents the pecans from getting soggy in the filling.
Whisk corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
Pour the filling over the pecans. The pecans will float to the top and create a beautiful layer.
Bake for 50-55 minutes until the filling is set and the center doesn't jiggle when you tap the pie. If the crust edges are browning too fast, cover with foil. Cool at least 1 hour before slicing.
