Instructions

1

Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes. Combine with beef, pork, egg, grated onion, allspice, nutmeg, and 1/2 tsp salt. Mix gently and form into 24 small meatballs.

2

Melt 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown meatballs in batches for 3-4 minutes, turning to brown all sides. They don't need to be cooked through yet. Remove to a plate.

3

In the same skillet, melt remaining butter. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth, then heavy cream and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer.

Tip: The soy sauce adds depth without making it taste Asian. It's the secret ingredient in many Swedish meatball recipes.

4

Return meatballs to the gravy. Simmer covered for 10 minutes until cooked through. Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Serve meatballs and gravy over noodles with a dollop of lingonberry jam.
